Evenimentul nu a starnit reactii oficiale, nici din partea BOR, nici din partea justitiei - fiind un caz declarat de mituire. Andrei Plesu observa, retoric, in "Despre bucurie in est si in vest" faptul, paradoxal, ca "o miscare de avangarda a moralei sexuale jinduieste la o institutie traditionala, ba chiar traditionalista, a umanitatii" - casatoria. Intrebarea care se impune vizeaza legitimitatea oficierii religioase a unei casatorii homosexuale. Biserica Ortodoxa nu poate oficia si nu poate legitima, in nicio situatie posibila, o casatorie intre persoane de acelasi sex. Iar acesta este un fapt care nu tine nici de orientarea sexuala, nici de orientarea religioasa. Tine de logica institutionala. Pentru a vedea mai bine acest fapt, este necesar sa privim atat Biserica, cat si institutiile statului laic, in logica proprie fiecareia.
